Open Door was established in 1967. We work in partnership with Health and Education. We provide one to one counselling for children and young people age 12-26. We provide a high level of confidentiality to our young clients. Open Door operates within the L.S.C.B guidelines relating to child protection and disclosure of abuse.

If you are aged between 12-26 and would like to see a counsellor, you can refer yourself to our service by calling Open Door on 0121 454 1102 or 0121 454 1116. Our service is free and confidential.

What we mean by confidential: -

Confidentiality means that you don't have to tell your parents that you're coming for counselling, and that we won't tell anybody else what you talk about in sessions. For your own protection, we might sometimes have to tell somebody if you tell us you're being harmed in anyway, we will try to talk this over with you first.

If you are aged between 12 and 18 and living in one of the following districts of Birmingham, you could be referred by your doctor to Open Door Youth Counselling for Short term Counselling (8 weeks) :-

South Birmingham, Billesley, Edgbaston, Harborne, Quinton, Bartley Green, Longbridge, Northfield , Kings Norton, Bournville, Selly Oak, Moseley, Kings Heath, Brandwood, Hall Green, Weoley Castle.

Heart of Birmingham, Bordesley Green, Springfield , Sparkbrook, Ladywood, Aston, Nechells, Handsworth wood, Handsworth, Soho.

The advantage of being referred through your doctor is you will get to see a counsellor more quickly (usually between 6 to 8 weeks). You can ask for more details at your G.P. Surgery or telephone Open Door.
